ok so i have this manager at my job that is very stern and strict. one could say that he is authoritarian. it is his way or the highway. this is a personal problem because i dont like it when people are always on my back like im a child. it makes me feel incopetent and useless when in reality i am a lucrative associate to the company. thing is that i have never had to be told to do something more than once since i was a child and that is how i work but he doesnt understand that and doesnt grasp the concept that even though he is the manager i am also capable of doing my job without 24/7 surveillance.

If that is the way he is to everyone he is in charge of then it may be that he is striving very hard for perfection from his subordinates. But on the other hand if he is like this towards you only then it may be a case where he sees the potential that you have and is trying to make you better or it may be a situation where you have to prove your self to him. Your best bet is to talk to him in a professional manner and get him to understand that it affects you work when he is breathing down you neck all the time and that you are very capable of doing whatever he assigns you in a timely and efficient manner with him only telling you once.
I know how you feel right now about your boss because I used to have one long time ago. Just like your manager, he treated me like a child. Even though I understood what the manager said to me, he talked me over and over about it. I think the best way to solve this problem is that you should communicate with your boss. Why? The relationship with your boss affects your career.
First, I tried to figure out what was wrong with me on work because some people might see myself in a different way. So I could know about myself a little bit more, thanks to my co-workers. After then, I asked my boss why he behaved like that toward me. He told me he wanted to help me out because I did not have any experience in that field. I told him how I felt from him on work. He was also sorry about his hehavior. After this conversation with him, I could work more efficiently and talk to my boss easily for advice if I faced with any problems with my work. I hope my advice helps you a lot.
Good luck!- Mira
The way your manager is will never change. Some peope are just not meant to manage people but unfortunately we have to deal with those people in life. Keep doing what you are doing and know that it is being done right. Do everything in an efficient manner and he wont have a thing to so say to you.
